Who would have ever known that being born in Maxwell, Montana – a small quiet quaint state, Cody would diverge this far. What do we mean by that? Well simply looking at his work timeline from working at oil rigs with his dad to where he is now is fascinating. A world renowned CBD serial entrepreneur with a handful of mighty apps and business ventures in this controversial in the past yet so dynamic now booming industry.
It all started as his personal experience if CBD sleep aid not to mention a friend in the industry showed him the CBD industry:
“I slept like a baby and woke up feeling amazing,” said Alt. “So that was pretty much all she wrote for me.”
But how did he get from that point A to B? Well, in his own words it took some guts and heart for that to happen:
“…make sure that you know who you’re going into business with before you sign on the dotted line because after that, your ass is married. Let’s just say, you want to have business partners who are actually invested into the day to day processes of the business versus someone who is merely sitting on the sidelines waiting for your hard work and their big payday. Second, make sure you have a backup plan if your business doesn’t go as planned. When I was first building Kushly, I wasted a lot of time waiting for developers to get to a certain deadline. I should have stepped back and started developing my own products right away, but I didn’t. that was a huge mistake that I just oversaw, and it drives me nuts every time I think about it honestly. […] “If you can make yourself a one-stop-shop, you have the edge over the other guy”
With such a transition from a seasonal industry worker to a self made easy entrepreneur came some hurdles. And while now Cody has extensive network of ventures starting with TrueKan to most focal one-stop shop Kushly that initially stated as an app for cannabis delivering – it wasn’t easy. Here are the funny and dramatic issues he had to stumble upon on his journey of building a true CBD Empire:
“Be authentic,” said Alt. “There are too many fake people who are trying to jump into the marketplace. You have to be different from other people. You have to know branding, you have to hire the right marketing team that is aligned with what your vision is, with the company you want to build.” […] “The lesson I guess, would be that sometimes things don’t work out the way that they’re planned. But I saw that there weren’t enough people ordering in the market in PHX where I wanted to launch and instead of trying to die by the delivery platform, I started manufacturing cannabis products. That was a big turning point for the company as it was finally starting to generate revenue.”
Besides having that amazing attitude Cody has also never been egotistical as he eagerly shares advice to newcomers:
“(Focus on) actually wanting to help customers instead of worrying all about the money,” said Alt. “I created these products to try and help people solve issues like me. That was my goal from the beginning.”
So making his walk across the industry in such a short span of just 4 years most have been tough right? Well according to Cody himself there is nothing more he enjoys as he elaborates on his future plans:
“Keep your eye on the prize, keep striving to try and help people day in and day out. That’s what it’s all about.”
