Meet Chris Robinson, the well-known sneaker collector who has a fascinated story to share. Learn from him what it takes to become really successful if you are brave enough to follow your goals.
At the moment, Chris Robinson is one of the most famous sneaker collectors in the world. With a popular Instagram account of over 130k, he shares his passion with the world by posting pictures of his unique and very rare sneakers collection. How he got here?
Chris Robinson shares Irish and African American origins, he grew up in a small town on the Jersey Shore. As a kid, Chris Robinson did not have the privilege of having a wealthy childhood. Not having the things, he wanted as a kid, made him love fashion and this is how everything started. He shared with us a story from which, in all honesty, we all have something to learn. It was a turning point in his life, a moment of sadness that turned out to be constructive after all.
“As a child, I was sitting in front of the local convenience store when I threw a rock into the street as a brand-new Chevy Tahoe was passing by. The driver stopped, rolled down his window, cursed at me, and told me “This car cost $45,000 and you will never be able to afford something like this.” As I cried on my way home, I set goals to make sure I would prove that man wrong….”
He was only 14 when he bought his first pair of sneakers using the money from his first pay-check and since then, it’s been his goal, passion, and dream to start collecting them. It took a lot of hard work and determination, and after all, everything turned out to be worth it. The path to success was not easy but Chris Robinson started with a crucial element: making connections and building his way up in the sneaker community.
In 2011 Chris became the owner of an actual sneaker store. He teamed up with the number 1 Reebok collector in the world, @deeboks and together they remodeled the store from the ground up. The very impressive part is that from his income, he shares with those in need donating over 15,000 to Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation and 11,000 to Doerbecher Children’s Hospital after purchasing one pair of the What the Doernbecher Nike Dunk in an eBay charity auction.
From a dreaming child to a very popular sneaker collector who actually owns one of the rarest pair of sneakers in the world. We talk about the pair of Louis Vuitton sneakers (Virgil Collabs) bought at a retail of $9.2k that light up in sync and can be controlled by your phone. There’re only 28 pairs out there. Lil Uzi and Kim Kardashian have them. Moreover, he owns the Joker sample pair, the only one in the world.
